Typing Spanish characters on an Apple MacPro laptop
Typing accents and Spanish language characters on a MacBook Pro: It’s possible to add and delete accents without changing the keyboard layout. To type a word with an accent, hold the Option Key (lower left hand of the keyboard), press E, and an accent character will appear.
Press another key, such as A, E, I, O, or U, and the character will appear beneath the accent. Other characters such as ñ are possible by pressing Option-N then N (or in French ç with Option-C).
To obtain the opening exclamation mark “¡” hold the Option Key, press E, and an accent character will appear. Then press the Option Key and the regular exclamation mark key. To obtain the opening question mark “¿” hold the Option Key, press E, and an accent character will appear. Then press the Option Key, the Shift Key and the regular question mark key.
There is a shortcut to delete the accents easily: Control-Delete. If you type an accented character and then select Control-Delete the system will convert the accented character into a standard character.
